Set up OpenCode v2 with Console models

Connect OpenCode v2 to an OpenCode Console workspace and check the current model, billing and privacy terms before making any request.

Before you connect: A public $0 listing does not confirm that your account can use it for free. Check the selected model, billing, credits and auto-reload before sending code.

Before you start

  • A supported terminal and Node.js/npm. OpenCode v2 and v1 use the same `opencode` command and configuration locations; check existing installations before switching versions.
  • An OpenCode Console account only if you have reviewed and accepted its current billing and model-specific data terms.

Check before your first request

  • Confirm the exact model ID is still listed at $0 for input and output. OpenCode currently describes its free models as limited-time; the public catalog does not confirm account eligibility.
  • Review data-use terms for the exact model. The source checked 2026-10-22 described zero retention and no training for some listings; do not apply those terms to other models.
  • Check credits, billing and auto-reload. Stop if a paid model or paid fallback can be selected unintentionally.

Setup steps

  1. Read the current OpenCode v2 Console model, pricing and privacy pages. Confirm the exact model is currently listed at $0 for input and output, check the provider-stated time limit and review its data-use terms. Some listings disclose training use; do not infer those terms for another model.
  2. Install v2 using the official package command: npm install -g @opencode/cli. If you already use OpenCode v1, review the migration guide and preserve your configuration before changing the shared installation.
  3. From your project directory, run opencode. In the TUI, use /connect and choose your OpenCode Console workspace; follow the current account and connection instructions only if their billing and privacy terms are acceptable.
  4. Use /models to select the exact current free listing and confirm its full provider/model ID. Do not select OpenCode Go, a metered model, or a paid fallback for a free-only setup.
  5. Before any request, recheck the displayed model price, credits, usage limit and auto-reload controls. If the listing or account behavior is unclear, stop and treat the offer as unverified.

Verify before continuing

  • Confirm the running CLI is OpenCode v2 and the model picker shows the exact intended provider/model ID.
  • Confirm the current account terms, model price and model-specific data use before continuing.

Stop if any of these checks fail

  • Stop if the account cannot use the exact model at $0, billing or auto-reload is unclear, or a paid model or fallback can be selected unintentionally.
  • Stop if the selected model's current data terms are unclear or unacceptable.
