Set up OpenCode Go: paid plan and zero-token models
Use OpenCode v2 with selected Go-listed models whose token price is currently zero. OpenCode Go itself is a paid subscription, so check plan cost and balance-fallback controls first.
Before you connect: OpenCode Go is a paid subscription even when a model's token price is zero. Turn Extra usage off if you do not want requests to fall back to your Zen balance.
Before you start
- OpenCode v2 installed in a supported terminal; review the v1-to-v2 migration notes before changing an existing shared installation.
- An OpenCode Go or Go Plus subscription and a Go API key, only if you have reviewed and accepted its monthly charge and model-specific terms.
- A project directory whose contents you are comfortable sharing with the model provider.
Check before your first request
- The source checked 2026-10-22 listed Go at $10/month and Go Plus at $40/month. Confirm the current plan price before connecting.
- The zero-token-price Beam Free and LongCat 2.5 Preview Free listings are marked limited-time under the paid Go plan; Beam is limited to supported regions. Recheck model availability and eligibility.
- Model data terms differ: the checked Go documentation listed no training and zero-day retention for LongCat, and no training with 30-day retention for Beam. Review current terms for the selected model.
Setup steps
- Review the current OpenCode Go plan, model, pricing, regional availability and privacy pages. The two zero-token-price models are listed for a limited time under a paid subscription.
- Install OpenCode v2 using the official command: npm install -g @opencode/cli. Preserve your existing configuration before switching a shared v1 installation.
- Before sending a request, open the OpenCode Console and turn Extra usage off if you do not want requests to fall back to a separate Zen balance. Confirm the selected Go/Go Plus plan and account state.
- From your project directory, run opencode, use /connect, select OpenCode Go and enter the Go API key using the CLI's credential flow. Never store the key in project files or commit it.
- Use /models to select and confirm `opencode-go/longcat-2.5-preview-free` or `opencode-go/beam-free`. Recheck that the exact model is still listed at zero token price; confirm regional eligibility before choosing Beam Free.
Verify before continuing
- Confirm the CLI is OpenCode v2, the selected provider/model is exact, your Go plan is active, and Extra usage is disabled if balance fallback is not intended.
- Confirm the current plan, model availability, regional eligibility and model-specific data terms before continuing.
Stop if any of these checks fail
- Stop if the subscription price or model availability differs from what you expect, or Beam is unavailable in your region.
- Turn Extra usage off if you do not want requests to fall back to a Zen balance.
- Stop if the selected model's current data terms are unclear or unacceptable.
